Educational Computer System
for underprivileged children
The aim is to set up classrooms of networked pc's giving children, who would otherwise not have the chance:
- access to information either on the internet when available or through DVD/CDROM provided from people outside
- the chance to experiment, play, learn and gain familiarity with IT equipment
Why?
Because today those children without access to the information available on the Internet and those without a familiarity with IT equipment and the use of it are greatly disadvantaged
The first stage in this project is to set up 2 classrooms in Cochin in Southern India and make them freely available to the village children and orphans. Once we have succeeded in this and got some experience of how it runs we will move the initiative to other areas.
Acknowledgments
This project would not be possible were it not for several people. Special thanks must go to:
- Aldershot Garrison for logistics, storage and promotion
- Aldershot traders who donated the first pc's for testing the system
- All others who have donated equipment - list to follow
